To A Higher Calling Poem by Gert Strydom

To A Higher Calling

'my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass
from me. Yet not what I want but what You want.' Matthew 26: 39

'My Father, if this cup cannot go away unless I
drink it, let Your will be done.' Matthew 26: 41.

It's obvious that more sacrifice is expected
when God brings a higher calling to a life:
where by giving everything, a person hardly survive,
and by our own free-will this can be rejected

while by tribulations and trials we are intercepted,
do know intensely that for a reason we are alive,
that somehow there is a greater goal for to strife:
something metaphysical and solid into which we are directed

but to whom much is given, much is from required,
where this is not about brute strength in an attack
but about sacrifice: a spiritual crucifixion,
where being called to lead a person is inspired,
to take a leap of faith, without fear in intuition to act,
as we walk with God with potential in benediction.
