To Be An Island Unto Yourself Poem by Terence George Craddock

To Be An Island Unto Yourself

to be an island totally unto yourself means
more than no friends no family no people
no interaction with anyone at any all times

it means more much much more
it means no clothing you did not make
made with no tools you did not make
no tread of cotton make plant strings
no food you did not hunt clean first kill
you would hunt clean process all food

any interaction with any object
any interaction with any service
any interaction with any product
anything previously manufactured
prepared or made by anyone else
means you are no longer an island

an island totally unto yourself
less than an ape less than a bird
less than a honey bee or an ant

True true. With GPS every point on earth is mapped. You would have to come with me to mars to start a new colony to be totally alone
