To Brother Jesse Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

To Brother Jesse

Rating: 5.0

To Brother Jesse

This ladder, brother
-is endless to heaven

We are made by power
-name can be whatever,
-God, Allah, or Nature

We grab every rung
-for others to climb…

Eager we must be but
-to get and to gather
-not to hoard but to share

Brother
-I recall my father
-he asked me:
-"Did you pay your taxes? "

I knew he would have
-some advice in sleeve
-and he did

"You have been fortunate
-read and write you have learned,
-that helps you to enjoy when mingles
-for this pay your taxes…"

He went on and at end…
-wanted me to teach the
-people who are deprived

So please my Jesse
-remember…
-you and I are obliged
-many are around us
-who deserve our taxes…

Let us sit and find way
-to give them our hands, legs
-as well as minds and heads…

And if they can only be more evenly and fairly distributed! Good poem!
