To Cross A Bridge Poem by Rob Knetsch

To Cross A Bridge

such a long and winding road
was getting to narrow for me
while crossing its border
i jumped ship, so to say

touching the icecold water
preparing to drown soon
i counted my blessings
and had ended up none

none the wiser after this
i opened a door with a key
i had found a long time before
this quest had entered my mind

i am very sorry to have to say
it al ended here at this moat
but while crossing the bridge
it was turning me old and gray
