To Hold A Rose - Poem by Charles Tomar

So they call you rose
Fitting I suppose
For everyone wants to hold you
You the most beautiful flower the garden holds

I’ve got you in my hand
But the pains so great I can hardly stand
For you’re covered in thorns
So the blood starts to run

The blood drips to the floor
Bloody handprints on the score
The keyboard doused in red
The song sings on inside my head

That’s what you get I suppose
When you try to hold a rose

You’ve forever scarred me
But I’m thankful for the opportunity
To hold the rose so perfect
That I don’t mind the thorns

And, I don’t wanna let go
But I have to someday I know
So I’ll try to set you down
And I’ll leave you on the floor

The blood drips to the floor
Bloody handprints on the score
The keyboard doused in red
The song sings on inside my head

That’s what you get I suppose
When you try to hold a rose

That’s What you get I suppose
When you try to hold a rose…
