To Sleep Perchance To Wake Poem by soren Barrett

To Sleep Perchance To Wake

Rating: 5.0

I live in the heartbeat of memory's dark, warm womb
with the fear of birth into a cold, waking tomb

here a nightmare's melody becomes a lullaby
burning truth to the bone with the dust of penitent lye

I stumble along with a tired desire for death's demise
knowing one more step forward will make no difference in our journey to the skies

In circles we go, ending where we began
in a world of races it only counts if you ran

If the only purpose in the game is to win, I choose not to play
Ah to sleep and herein, let all this pass away
