To Stand Out In The Rain Poem by Jim Yerman

To Stand Out In The Rain

The old man was smiling, arms held high when our lives became intertwined...
I offered him my umbrella...which he gracefully declined.

"Do not worry about me." he said. "Do not think me foolish or insane...
It's just...I had forgotten what it feels like...to stand out in the rain."
