To The Daughter Un-Born Poem by Jayatissa K. Liyanage

To The Daughter Un-Born

Rating: 5.0

I was craving for you
For years; not days weeks or months.
I trusted, you would appear any time,
Alas! You never came.

I yearned for you, through a good part of youth,
as well as entire manhood of mine
I am becoming feeble, par nature’s desire
Yet, no day passes by without sensing your void

I needed you in my happiest moment
Equally, in my sorrow you could be the solace
I looked up to you when I felt lonesome
And in pain, I wished you were with me.

Surely you could have consoled me in my anguish
I could have shared my happiness best with you
You could soothe me when I was hurt
You could have been my best companion, in my seclusion.

I endeavored to smile hoping you would appear
I cried not seeing you when I needed you.

Colossal void my life has, you only can fill
You, and its only you my darling, will do that
Love, affection, trust and faithfulness
Hoarded in me, shan't dissipate till I meet you

I know you wouldn't flea, in my misery
I know you just can’t enjoy when I cry
You wouldn't laugh when I grieve
Sure you would care me when I am in agony

I feel miserable and mistreated
Desolated and desperate
Dejected as well as damned
Sans your care and warmth

I know its too late, darling, daughter unborn
Still, the big void will carry on to the end!
In your name, I vouch for any sacrifice,
Should we meet, in this samsaric cruise
Some where, some day within the celestial abode!
