To The Reader Poem by David Mitchell

To The Reader

Rating: 3.5

Thank you for reading this uncalled-for verse:
I hope that, somehow, it will give you pleasure:
If not, reflect that it could have been worse;
And read it, if you want to, at your leisure.

A writer's happiness amounts to this:
That if his work is read, and liked, and known,
His knowledge of this is akin to bliss:
He's satisfied that he is not alone.
