To Whom A Chicken Is A Babe

In a hoos in Ald Engle,
without there were bairns,
a 'fugel' was both a chicken and a fowl.

Unless there were babes in the coop,
in our house in Toowoomba, 'fowl' was enough;
we usually used 'chicken' for cowardly stuff.
