To You. Poem by Amber Peterson

To You.

There comes a day
when everything else is washed away.
The lies, the rumors, and the pain
are no longer felt again.

Sometimes, this is what I think of death,
the ending of your pain with one final breath.
But this can also happen in new ways,
and words are no longer a thing that can faze.

One special person enters your life,
makes you forget the scars of the knife.
Happiness replaces tears,
and hope is found instead of fears.

You, my friend have done this for me.
All the good things, you've helped me see.
And through it all, it has been you.
You, my friend, I know are true.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
When I first wrote this, I wrote it for a friend named Dallas. But now that I read it, I realize, it wasn't Dallas who did all of that for me. It was God. God gave me a friend & he's been the one to stay by me even when everyone else left. So this poem is now 'To God, Love me'
