Today's News, Tomorrows Chip Paper Poem by Matthew Holloway

Today's News, Tomorrows Chip Paper

Rating: 5.0

There's a saying here
In old English towns
Today's news is
Tomorrows chip paper
To elaborate a little
What we achieve in the day
In print, is used to wrap food
In the following evening
And discarded forgotten
The morning after
A waste bin of achievement
How many poems written with pride
Will be tomorrow's chip paper

Sometimes as a writer you never really know which poem will stand the test of time even though heart and real feeling has been put into the piece; one more reason to keep on writing.
