Today... 'The Everlasting Light' - Poem by Roy Allen
Bethlehem Ephrathah the smallest of every clan
as prophesied out of you has come the long promised Man.
Now no more is the sun required to lighten up each day
The Everlasting Light of heaven illuminates our way.
Days of sorrow have ended and the days of joy begin
through walls of Salvation and gates of Praise I've entered in.
Eternal Light from heaven is now shining upon me
For the Light of the Glory of God in Your face I see.

Poet's Notes about The Poem
For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness, ' made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
Isaiah 60: 18-20
No longer will violence be heard in your land,
nor ruin or destruction within your borders,
but you will call your walls Salvation
and your gates Praise.
The sun will no more be your light by day,
nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you,
for the LORD will be your everlasting light,
and your God will be your glory.
Your sun will never set again,
and your moon will wane no more;
the LORD will be your everlasting light,
and your days of sorrow will end.

The Bible calls You by many names
each one giving a glimpse of Your glory.
Like a cut diamond radiating in the sun
with every facet depicting an aspect
of Your Divine Nature.
Today I have thought of You as
'The Eternal; Light'
Isaiah 60: 18-20
Hymn: Eternal Light! Eternal Light!
Eternal Light! Eternal Light!
How pure that soul must be,
When, placed within thy searching sight,
It shrinks not, but with calm delight
Can live, and look on thee.
The spirits that surround thy throne
May bear the burning bliss;
But surely that is theirs alone
Who, undefiled, have never known
A fallen world like this.
O how shall I, whose native sphere
Is dark, whose mind is dim,
Before the Ineffable appear,
And on my naked spirit bear
The uncreated beam?
There is a way for man to rise
To that sublime abode:
An offering and a sacrifice,
A Holy Spirit's energies,
An Advocate with God:
These, these prepare us for the sight
Of holiness above:
The sons of ignorance and night
May dwell in the eternal Light,
Through the eternal Love!
