Together Poem by LoneWolf Paw

Together

~The rain beats down
In an uneven rhythm
A soothing sound
To my troubled soul

The thoughts are overflowing
The dam is breaking
And the waves flood everything

Pain to myself is irrelevant
It’s not the picture in my head
Your face is the only thing I see
Breaking my heart, piece by piece.

Your words were quiet and restrained
Piercing through my heart
If I could believe them
Maybe I could live
But I saw the battle in your eyes
Heard the things not spoken

I laugh to myself for thinking of forbidden love
But yearn for it as well
Will not you let your walls crumble?
And cling to me to keep yourself up
Whispering sweet words

No, your words oppose, breaking me
And yet, even as I let myself break
I won’t give up
Because you’re the only one who
Has enough of me to
Break me or mend me

I’ve always kept my distance
From anything at all
But you drew me in
Against my will, without even my notice
Now you’re the one keeping your distance

Why not come closer
And take my hand?
Together we may walk, into the light~
