Tomcats Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Tomcats

Tomcats

She is short
She is black
She is there
(Both in cold and in hot)

As always she's here
(Frozen leaves and lugs)
(Complain roads and rocks)
But she walks and stops
Lifts the lid; looks inside
Cans; food packs; of last night
(Collecting is her job)
(She sells some; rest to bite.)

From outside you see us
‘Most advanced; Top Seven'
But for cans, leftover
(Like wild-dogs)
Client; some of us
Of hunger some do die

We're modern; civilized
Live in shells; close eyes
We're turtles; groundhogs

We may learn when in net
(Last breathe)
'Leave aside the greed and be kind.'
