Tomorrow Poem by Linda Barnes

Tomorrow

We dated for a while
And I waited for the time
That I knew you would ask me
Could it be, tomorrow

We finalized our wedding plans
And I can't wait for us to be
Joined together in matrimony
It's the day after, tomorrow

Fifty years have flown by
We will celebrate our love
And once again, my love
It is, tomorrow

We visited the doctor's office
Hoping for test results and,
Just praying they are good
But not today, perhaps, tomorrow

Now a year has come and gone
You are getting worse
But, honey you are strong,
We might have a year from, tomorrow

Laying in your hospital bed
You turn to me and said
I love you Darling, as I
Prayed for another, tomorrow

Now the love of my life
Has died and left me here
To be with God, but
I will wait and cry, tomorrow

It's been five years
Since you left, and now
I'm ready to see you there
And Darling, it might be, tomorrow
