A gentle drizzle, the sun dips low,
Beyond the woods its last lights glow.
Tomorrow dawns a brand-new day,
The day your husband goes away.
We've shared our meals and life as one,
Through setting moon and rising sun.
But when tomorrow's morning breaks,
A soldier's path your husband takes.
When dusk arrives and shadows fall,
My love, don't grieve or mourn at all.
Our nation calls, and I must heed,
To serve her in her hour of need.
So do not beg that I should stay,
I cannot simply turn away.
While enemies invade our land,
I cannot watch and silent stand.
They wound our home with sword and flame,
And thus I've sworn in honor's name,
To answer blood with courage true,
And do what every son must do.
If tomorrow finds me still alive,
My heart and soul will surely strive
To hasten home without delay,
And see your waiting smile that day.
Then once again we'll reunite,
Through days of peace and gentle light,
Together bound through destiny,
A faithful, loving family.
