Tools Poem by Randy McClave

A hammer was created to help build
Construction and finished products it did yield,
But, sometimes it has been used deliberately to kill
But, the latter was not it's design or will.

The saw is a wonderful and a handy tool
With it safety is always the number one golden rule,
With it I have sawed the final piece of a hardened wood
Its creation was to help, and for good.

In high-school I took a carpentry class
I received myself an "A" as from it I did pass,
I was taught that tools were created for only one use
To build, and to create, and to produce.

Many tools I have held proudly in my hand
In which to drill, and to screw, and to sand,
I use them safely and surely to create a better life
And never to cause any pain, or suffering, or strife.

In the hands of a workman I inspected a gun
I researched its history from the day it begun,
A gun was created with one objective which is to destroy;
This! is the end of my tool story.
