Towards Pacific Poem by Sankhajit Bhattacharjee

Towards Pacific

Rating: 5.0

Those who are fighting among themselves
will come to a compromise by signing a pact.
Ultimately peace will rule all over-
an eternal fact.
Blood, violence and war
can only solve temporary need.
If one goes deep, one will discover
there is no greatness in any such deed.

Let the lawlessness of a state be fought
with peaceful resistance as the only instrument,
without disturbing county's peace, for fighters' security,
to raise moral sense among the opponent.
Victory will surely triumph in the long run
as peace always has its reward.
Let us learn to control our crimes from within,
our innocence will take us forward.

The tranquility and serenity of Shelly's verse
directed our freedom struggle with disciplined sentiment,
nurtured the blossom of independence
on the vast Indian sub-continent.

Blood, violence and war can only solve temporary need. there is no greatness in any such deed.... //.... This is a universal truth. The poem nicely elucidates it with a detour of our history and India winning its independence. It advocates practice of non-violence and change of heart through moral means and persuasion. Thanks.
