Trapped (A Sequel To Broken) Poem by Oreoluwa Sanni

Trapped (A Sequel To Broken)

When the music stopped
We concluded our waltz

The smoke cleared
The reality was ever so vivid
And I could see pass the fug

I danced a night away
But little did I know
Holding me with a tight heavy grip
was the beast himself,
Beelzebub, with a heavy desire
earnestly hoping that I'll stay In my fall

I was defenceless
I didn't learn nor set my defences
So I stayed and we walked along side tragedy and sorrow
following from spring to fall standing tall

It knocked and I rushed to respond
It said open up and looked at me saying
"I am sin, do you care to let me in"

"Let's take a walk
You're a fine sheep and I know a fine alter
the time is ticking it's time for the slaughter,
do you care to dance some more? "

It's words filled me with lust
And I followed
as self deceit lead
I believed it killed willing and able in my head
like a blown out candle I was dead
and that concluded that chapter
So sad and all so true
I became the walking dead
Unable to do the good I search for
Because it had me believe it killed the good
as it lead.

The beast became the king
And I became the beast

When I handed it my crown
It handed me it's leash

An unequal exchange if I could say

It shackled and blinded me
Because I followed as it tuned my pain,

It gave me what once belonged to it,
it's cage and it planned to make of me what it made of Cain,

It became my master and I became it's slave
imprisoned deeply in need of an escape.
