Edgar my mentor, my teacher, your name,
Is ever around me, a tribute to your fame.
Thou dost inspire me, your words ringing true,
In my head forever I hear only you.
I see as I walk and look o'er the land,
That dark bird you wrote about, with your very hand.
He's all around me, with all of his kin,
And I feel you walk on the earth once again.
I quaff a pint in your honor dear sir,
And a second, for your dear one, a second for her.
To soon you left us, too fast you were gone,
But we have your wisdom written in stone.
Oh my dear Edgar where are you now?
You left this world without taking a bow,
You were the master no doubt that is true,
And legions upon legions love only you.
Where ever you are in heaven or hell
We'll always here the ringing of the bells
And the knight on his quest, to the city of gold,
Will warm all our hearts for being so bold.
Good bye my dear Edgar where ever you be,
In your darkened chamber, or down by the sea,
In haunted castles, with souls of the dead,
Good bye sweet gentleman all has been said.
