Troublesome Forty [quatrains ] Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Troublesome Forty [quatrains ]

1⁸. It is painful if those with strength of knowledge
be lethargic. Going to war without the brave men,
grieves. Treading through the hot desert flusters.
Friendship with the immatured is hurtful.

1₉. Though born in a good clan, lack of learning hurts.
Going sterile of the sown seeds is painful.
The shameless acts of beautiful maids boggle.
To wed and mix with unfit clans pains much.

20. The tune of the cuckoo in rainy season bereaves.
The wild words of the grumpy people are stabbing.
The world will be in peril if the rains fail.
To plough with a tough bull gives trouble.
