Truly Enlightened Poem by Mohammad Younus

Truly Enlightened

I'm not sure
what I was doing exactly
when it dawned on me—
an ancient memory stirred,
no longer dead.
The sudden awakening struck hard,
a pain echoing deep
as the illusion of separation
from the whole sank
into the dark abyss.

Eventually, I realized
I was entirely divine,
not merely a vessel of
clay and water,
a shadow of someone lost,
but a vessel overflowing
with eternal light,
radiating from the essence
of Sacred divinity, forever.
