Trying To Understand The Heart Poem by Mary Hathaway

Trying To Understand The Heart

Looking at those around us seeing smiles and hearing laughter. Wishing it would always stay like this. We get to thinking why can't it? ? I close my eyes and imagine a heart not a cartoon or digram of one but a real heart. Everybody says that's where things come from right? ? I look closely be try to pinpoint why do we get sad which part says be happy? ? Which part gives you the flame for something which part gives you the love for someone? ? Which part takes a desire and turns it into a passion? ? Which part stops you from doing something harmful to others which part allows it? ? Does your heart justify things? ? Or your mind? ? Why is our hearts the center of our body? ? Why is it needed to survive? ? 0.o I try to understand the heart and when I finally get my anwser I fall apart.. The re is no understanding the heart because the heart is just the muscle that represents our souls. Our inner selves is just another way of saying who we are how were created. God didn't give any of us bad or rotten hearts we just allowed our souls to be corrupted. With lust instead of love, with power instead of equality, hatred over friendship. Closed hearts and opened eyes we see it as if nothing is wrong. But our souls are fighting the corruption. That's why our world can't be surrounded with love and life and light because its already corrupted and full of hatred death and darkness.
