Two Centuries Of Silence Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Two Centuries Of Silence

Two centuries of silence

Though nothing on my neck I can feel the garrote
I am choked and it hurts
Words blocked and inside; fire's set on my tongue
I am forced not to talk
What-a world I live in, burning hell, help me leave

I must shout
I must shout

Help me get to desert; there sky is a sky, has stars
Or take me to wide sea with no shore and endless

I'm tired of people of this life
I have been to Andes, to Apu

I was born in Iran and know her history ‘in writing'
Read the book of silence
It is two centuries; great man is writer (Zarrinkoub)

Then you see I am right
I must shout ‘very loud'
