Two Girls & A Dance Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Two Girls & A Dance

In two weeks and one day
prom night will be here
I'm going with a girl I like
so what do I have to fear?

a night of dancing to remember
I'll show her a good time
when we get back to her house for the night
I'll ask her to be mine

commitment has never been my specialty
but ofcourse I'm willing to try
for the girl that I care about
to her, I'd never lie

my heart was stabbed repeatedly
my abilities to love are numbed
though I'm sure she'd love to hear it
I can't say that she's the one

this is the last time I'll do this
only giving my heart one chance
not to trip, fall, or jump
but to steadily hold a stance

so my dear Samantha
I hope you're looking forward to this too
I'm happy to be your prom date
to the dawn I'll see you through
