Two Streets Poem by Annie Juliet

Two Streets

I rarely catch sight of her
We hardly converse each day
Our texts are infrequent as well
But I always know she dwells just two streets away

We've engaged in difficult conversations
Navigated through tough resolutions
Made challenging choices together
But I always know she dwells just two streets away

Her silence is a source of my disdain
My expectations provoke her disdain
I've relinquished all my defenses to break her silence
I always know she dwells just two streets away

But now, miles will separate us
Though our connection will endure
She'll occupy my thoughts every day
...even if she's no longer just two streets away

Her memory shall linger within me
I'll offer my prayers for her well-being
My heart shall heed her voice
For within her voice, I can envision her presence
And I'll patiently await her return with all my love

...Distance does matter when she's no longer just two streets away

-Annie
