Out of the dusk that holds the night,
Where darkened paths grow steep and cold,
I lift my heart against such blight,
That counts the stars within my soul.
Though winds may howl and seas may tear,
I walk beneath a soft-lit sky;
The storms within, I learn to bearβ
In silence, I will not deny.
Fate's cruel hand may grasp my own,
But still, my pulse remains my own;
No force can crush, though I am thrown,
I find my way, where tears subside.
My course is set, though rough and wild,
No flame or flood can claim my song,
For in my breast, I keep the child
Who knows the dark but dreams of dawn.
And in the end, though frail and worn,
I stand unbowed, forever you,
For through each night, I am rebornβ
The stars within still shine for me.
