Under Construction Poem by Madeline Fazio

Under Construction

I should really take a lesson from you
You’re an excellent player
Of such an intricate game
A lonely pawn left to make your next move
But with one too many players, we start to look the same

Your rules were ever changing
Precisely manufactured to keep you ahead
But you underestimated just who you were playing
I’m not like the others, so easily left for dead

My tainted history was your biggest move
Shifting plays to get through barricades
But your biggest move was my wild card
And I played it just in time to keep you out
