In Star or Fire Light
At present, I am living in the future
that I remember
we said couldn't happen.
Take the inevitable, or regrettable,
Things that hurled us through time.
Gadgets distracting our times;
Screens showing nursery rhymes;
Auto autos, perhaps a moon base,
The geology of the human race.
Harness the wind, rein in the waters,
Squeeze out the sun block
for the sons and daughters.
I'm sitting inside,
looking at a blurred red sun,
inhaling cool air, filling older lungs.
Outside fires are still burning,
We need heed their warning;
The future is bright,
the future is now,
under star or fire light.
