Uneasy To Sleep—ice Cold Air—i Rise Poem by Mohammad Younus

Uneasy To Sleep—ice Cold Air—i Rise

Uneasy to sleep—ice cold air—I rise,
For Tahajjud prayers beneath the skies.
By the window, I gaze beyond,
Moonlit trees caught in winter's bond.

An ice storm shivers the willow's frame,
Bare chinars bow, yet remain the same.
Aging men and stooped mountains quiver,
They falter, touched by frost's cold shiver.

Branches crack, their lifeless weight falls,
The frozen snow bites, the stillness calls.
Yet the trees, as winters before have shown,
Will weather the storm and rebuild their own.

Am I less to You, O Lord divine,
Than these trees that break, yet climb?
Let me endure, through biting sting,
To witness, at last, my eternal spring.
