Unforgettable Pain Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

Unforgettable Pain

It happened so unexpectedly
Unannounced like a quick vile thief,
Acute spinal pain with no known injury
A dislocation that had no relief.

Searing pain gripped the back then
Cutting from the top of my neck
It felt like my whole body was broken-
A puppet whose strings was a wreck.

I fell on the floor, no movement
Each breathe seemed to suck the Pain in
Screaming added to the bizarre torment
My mind was intact, but the body caved in.

An old lady chiropractor was summoned
She whose able hands traced the malady
With gentle strokes restored the wayward bone
Like a puzzle that fit again perfectly.

Years have been kind to this body's spine
And with utmost care I take it seriously
To rest and to lie down, ease this body of mine
For I cannot survive again such an injury.
