Unfulfilled Dreams Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Unfulfilled Dreams

Dreams of my innocent childhood
never came true.
Crossing my youthful view,
stumbled a damsel new.

Exciting mind at once was
losing its taste in studies.
Vows I made to my mum
broke and fell to earth.

Sparkles in her eyes were
flighting my wings to take off.
Efforts to delve into books
found alone her smiling face.

Response to her scribbles
rowed me into trouble.
Assault and humiliation
hustled me in shame and rot.

Barbaric customs of yore
bashed into the core of love.
Tremour after tremour in life
trampled my grievous heart.
