Unnoticed Or Ignored Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Unnoticed Or Ignored

Rating: 5.0

There are those cemented deep within themselves.
And perhaps observed to be,
Obviously self obsessed.
With just their egos to offer.
Perceived by some to detect and accept.
While listening to lies they tell often.
Done when told and to sell them well.
Perceived by some,
To not reject this.
Yet...
There are those left from birth,
Not to know the truth or value its worth.
Nor is affixed to their DNA.

And the few left confused although amused.
Do not suspect,
Folks with minds like this...
Have never been introduced,
To reality to live it.
Or discover its significance.
Nor the damage this causes,
To those defending this illness to pretend...
Behavior like this represents,
A mind independent.
Perhaps abnormally eccentric.
However...
In the most influential of places,
This is dysfunction.
And not a normal mentality to tolerate.
As if either unnoticed or ignored.
Wishing a disease concealed and privately,
Doesn't ultimately spread to create an epidemic.

And this...
Temperment,
May be too late to prevent its implementation.
Unnoticed Or ignored.
Depending on who benefits.
Or who dares to take the risk,
Of becoming permanently quarantine.
For not admitting,
To condone what was known to be 'something' wrong.
But...
Had not taken it personally.
When told to play along.
And find it easy to deceive.

"Trust me.
If you tell people anything,
To make up with it done to have them believe.
They will.
They don't know they are being deceived.
Afterall...
Today,
Who is it that lives reality anyway?
Do you? "

-Well...
That depends on who signs my checks! -
