Unrequited Love Poem by Ziyanda KUBONI

Unrequited Love

You enticed me
I fell prey to your wicked game
Often desire & passion clouded my judgment
We were only picture perfect on frame
You were my biggest punishment
I mistook your lust for deep affection
One night of infatuation
Sent me on a daze
Daydreaming of a perfect ending
Now I laugh cause it was all just a phase
I wanted your love to be unwavering
Yet again, it was my dream not ours
We were only meant to talk for long hours
But never to reach our peak
I should have known the future was bleak
You aren't for me
Perhaps you never were and never will be
