unrequited love is a cold
lifeless sterile world
where sunflower dawn
cannot love the sun
love first struck global
like horizonal sky blazes
radiance is a thousand suns
millions billions instant
are lives burn to ash
in an intense light
creating shadow as
mushroom sky blooms
nuclear firestorms
incinerate cities
forests torrents
of boiling smoke
ascend into remnant
atmosphere to entomb
planet in billowing
skull black clouds of ash
noontime darkness
plummeting temperatures
is this the eventual death
of most life on planet
nominal nuclear winter
not substantial nuclear winter
or severe nuclear winter
just 1 percent of sun's
light makes it to Earth's
surface for period months
insufficient light no photosynthesis
Extreme nuclear winter
utter darkness at noon
planet's life perished
chilly confines coffin buried
black an atmospheric tomb
