Unrequited Valentine Poem by C Richard Miles

Unrequited Valentine

Don’t treat me with derision
If my indecision
Makes me seem
That I’m not keen;
I don’t lie, you know.
I’m just shy so, though
I’ve failed to mention
My firm intention
To say that I love you,
Don’t let doubts float above you;
It’s just that the notion
Of expressing emotion
Seems to get up and leave me
Since you’re out of my league, see.
Because fear won’t let me,
I’m sure you’ll forget me
But I’ll ask another gal in time
If she will be my valentine.
