Unspoken Thoughts Poem by PAR Nair

Unspoken Thoughts

God is love
But what is love?
You told me to work,
To earn
To take care of your house
My house, coz I built it!
I did, raising questions
And being suppressed
I came, leaving all
Everything that I had to say my own
I cried
Stitches from childbirth
Still raw!
You never tended me
Yet expected me to sleep by you
In the darkness of night
To help you
Masturbate
I thumped my head against the wall
And said
Once more, and it will be all over!
You never came to stop me
And I fell down with a swelling on my forehead.
I curl up at night against your body
Stranger, my heart says
My mind says
This is what you created for yourself
In the name of Love!
Leave
Leave now!
Where to? What do I look forward to?
I am scared
Scared of not having a man by me
Scared of people looking at me
Talking about me
Trying to get me
What I have is a shadow of love
A shadow that comes to life
But not always
Travelling with you
Tirelessly,
But they still remain
Lifeless!
Like my love………

sad... lines of a battered submission to existence amply create a hollow a void... inescapably gloomy.... well written to convey the effect forcefully well done :)
