Until Humanity Wins Poem by Richard Wlodarski

Until Humanity Wins

Rating: 5.0

I can clearly see beyond colour of skin
I'm really nothing short of your next of kin
I can perceive your kind of race
Although I don't wear the same face
I am a friendly witness to your creed
Living in a country long ago freed
The butt of many a joke for being Polish
And many a time it was really quite hellish
If I could exchange my whiteness for your blackness
Would it result in anymore happiness
Is the poor black human being in America
Any better off than the sweat shopper in Canada
Is my Roman Catholicism
Any better than your Judaism
Is my proud Polish nationality
Any lesser than your Jewish ancestry
Is my being cruel to be kind
Any better than raping your mind
Is my killing you with kindness
Better than bruising your tenderness
If stepping in and feeling your pain
When you're witnessing only cold rain
And I can't reach your dying despair
I will put my life in soul repair
I will fight for your humanity
Colour race creed and your disparity
I will die for Satan's sins
Until humanity wins
