Upon The Day Of Alast, I Made A Vow Poem by Mohammad Younus

Upon The Day Of Alast, I Made A Vow

Upon the Day of Alast, I made a vow,
To dedicate my life unto my Lord,
Upon this earthly plane, my pledge was sworn.

Now, returned to Him, with heart laid bare,
My soul's burden is naught but His sweet name.
Before the angels had made a wager bold,
That I, His Caliph, true, would surely fail.

Yet, as I stand before Him, I see His smile,
A testament to my unwavering faith.
'I proved thee wrong, ' He says to angels fair,
'This mortal kept his covenant with Me.'

My Lord, in need, deposed proud Iblis,
The angel king, who scorned to bow to man.
Against his legions, I took up the fight,
The Satan of the self, I did subdue.

Each dawn, he comes, to test my resolve,
Yet, with steadfast spirit, I prevail.
Victorious, I bask beneath the sun's warm glow,
As promised, my Lord's presence ever near.

Guided by His love, I journey on,
His trust in me, a beacon through the night.
With gentle touch, He crowns me with His light,
And together, we walk the paths of paradise.

Within, I find my own eternal bliss,
Lost to the charms of worldly woe.
'My Lord, You are mine, and I am Yours, '
