Vaguely I Remember Poem by Raymond Farrell

Vaguely I Remember

Vaguely
I remember
The coal oil lamps
And wood stove
The ride my uncle took me
On the steam engine
Around the town train yard
Its dark and grimy chamber
And the orange glowing coal
In the fire box
On the farm
The thrashing bees
And the monstrous thrashing machine
Horses drawing
Wagons heaped with hay
It's all vague now
Like shadowy forms
In a dim lit alley
And only lasted
A short time
Then childhood gave way
To youth
And a new era dawned
But I remember
Vaguely.

Most of my memories are like that. Vague, foggy tales of tales of tales.
