Van Der Decken (Cavatina) Poem by Gert Strydom

Van Der Decken (Cavatina)

Quite romantic an ancient ship passes
during twilight
with the setting sun ropes, cords, sails thrum;
the coming night
rushes in with a myriad of stars
and out of sight
a man stand with a fist high against the wind,
to eternity rest he will not find.
