Vanity Is A Must - Poem by Carolyn Vuletic

I finally believe it
I know what I am
I know what I'm not
I really am worth more than shit
without a shred of vanity I admit (cos it so ain't me)
I am beautiful.
it's taken a long time to say it.
but it's true
I share myself to a world of strangers, whom will never know me
but at some level know me better than my own mother.
i am worth it.
I look like this because I do
I will never make apologises again.
I will never use it to get somewhere (maybe just a few drinks, now and again)
'world here I am'
so ready for this new life, that will not be based on my face
I am so worth it
as I am beautiful

the great truth of being alive
    to our own beauty
    then no harm can touch
    our flesh
    nor rip the heart
    to shreds
and that you have found this
    and proclaim it
    to all
    THIS deserves the highest praise
    and if only one soul
    is turned from self-loathing
    to inner love
    you have given a gift
    beyond time
    a great poem
