Vegemite Tip - Poem by Douglas Scotney

On your Corn Thin
smear the Vegemite first,
then smear the 'butter'.

'Smear, ' I said,
preferring 'smear' to 'spread'.

It's from the German 'schmer'
meaning 'grease'.

English changed the 'sch' to 's'.

It did the same to 'Schmacke'.

Smack: a fishing vessel
with a well in which,
if fish
cannot exactly thrive,
they can at least be kept alive.

Topic(s) of this poem: advice, fishing, food, prepare

Poet's Notes about The Poem

Schmer is said schmair
Schmacke is said close enough to 'schmucker'.

The best great tip for our famous Vegemite is it is full of vitamins and famous with avocado and also cheese.
    I couldn’t live without it!
    Thank you
