Life is one long journey
That travels to and fro,
And when I give God the glory,
I know which way to go.
I give Him the steering wheel,
To steer my life on course.
He leads me in the right direction,
With His petrol as my source.
His Word is my roadmap,
It's also my Satnav too -
It steers me from many a mishap,
And keeps my detours few.
He switches on His headlights,
For me to see ahead,
Not too far, but close enough,
And keeps me from dead-ends.
I have a rear-view mirror,
To see how far I've come.
To study my failures and successes,
And view just what God's done.
My faith is my shock-absorber,
I know when it takes effect,
At times when things try shake me,
I know God's air-bags will protect.
When Satan tries to sway me,
I have my horn to hoot.
My warfare prayer does succeed,
To crush its very root.
God gives me brakes to stop me sinning,
And an extra one as well,
For He knows how hard temptations are,
And the exhaust fumes they expel.
His Spirit is my wipers,
It wipes away the dirt,
To let me see the way ahead,
And what dangers to avert.
So if I indicate in prayer,
And use my faith as gears,
I know I can be sure of life,
As onward ahead He steers.
And even if I have an accident,
I need never fear or fret,
For my insurance has been paid in heaven,
So I'll never be in debt!
