Victim Poem by soren Barrett

Victim

The weak buried under a glower, a mirage of despot's power
Knotted ropes of trembling fear, bind the last dream in a tear
Dehydrated hopes sour, abandoned on critic's jealous tower
Fly buzz of scavengers jeer, around the taste of their prey's fear

Lash cuts of cruel lies, tearing truth's skin, that all despise
Unblemished hide torn away, naked shame on display
Honos dies Maat cries
A feather to weigh, a Judas to betray

Watching one sunken, the crowd now blood drunken
In a macabre dance, baffled on a hangman's scaffold
Charity's malfunction a petrified heart shrunken
Hands shackled another virgin life has been raffled
