What is it with Victorian poetry,
That is forever so appealing.
A single line perhaps a verse,
For its time can be revealing.
With dutiful attention to beauty,
Always written with great flair.
So much of it quite religious,
About God and His Lord's Prayer.
And poems presented to small children,
So lovingly written and quite unique.
Every word to enthral one and all,
Magical poem's filled with mystique.
Countless poems about Queen Victoria,
Her monarchy of empire and homeland.
Beautifully scribed on fine parchment,
So politely requested by Royal Command.
Thank the heavens for Victorian poetry,
With its many gifted poets and poetesses.
For their noble timeless poetry even today,
Reaches out and so romantically caresses.
