View Poem by Gert Strydom

View

Outside it's shivering icy-cold
but inside cosy hot in front of a fireplace.
Everything is like yesterday: the view ages-old
as if time comes to a halt and lasts immeasurably.
There is fog hanging over the scene
while almost a fairytale-image stretches out,
like a painting that catches the eye:
it has meaning for you and me.
Maybe you and I can be there together
jerked-away into another age and time,
healed from all our previous things
without any heartache, fear or regret
and what I observe through the window
is burned into my most beautiful memory.
