Virgin Goddess Poem by Govind Ramakrishnan

Virgin Goddess

At the tip
Of this peninsula,
She stands
Rosary in hand,
Sporting
A diamond nose-ring
Lighting up the cosmos

Here,
Seas of past and future
Merge into an Ocean of Present,
This damsel,
Its sole witness,

A beautiful
Virgin-goddess
Hymned
By great seers
As the mother of the universe

Beautiful juxtaposition in this poem. I love the two seas and the ocean equivalence with the past, present and future. This poem is a great example of show rather than tell. I read all your poems and they are special.

The significance of the Virgin Goddess and Her superb seat at the tri-junction of oceans at Cape Comorin has been marvelously woven in this beautifully conceived poem. Thanks for sharing.10 points.
