Visiting Day Poem by Lauren Coles

Visiting Day

When you go see your loved ones in prison do they seem older than the last time that you saw them,
They might have had a lot of things to learn behind bars,
As a kid you might won their battles for them,
But sometimes they have to learn the lessons the hard way,
They most difficult part is when kids are involved because they may ask why they are not around.
You have to make up excuses,
When the time is right you can decide if your child is mature enough,
But now you will have to wish for a miracle that they can get their life back together and on the right track.
